Brave Arts - Scotty_B
As you may know as well as being a qualified Level 2 Youth Worker I am also a Graphic Designer, who paints wall murals using emulsion and spray paint.

My work is often associated with Graffiti Art.

This has led me to pursue quite an unusual specialty. Spray-can-Art murals.

To gain my degree, I wrote my dissertation centered around the subject of visual languages, Graffiti, and youth subcultures.  I understand the issues that surround ‘public art’ very well. In 2001, I completed the Eastern Arts Board - Artist in Residence course.

Once I left University I began trading as “Brave Arts’ and I have painted many large-scale murals, and run hundreds of workshops with Schools with Youth Groups, in Prisons and for all kinds of art initiatives.

Key skills.

I communicate well with groups and individuals, I find it easy to share my enthusiasm for Art.
I’m good at developing ideas, facilitating students to achieve results beyond what they imagined they were capable of. I’ve found I can motivate Students, giving them the confidence they need to improve their work.

I have a great instinct for ‘fairness’ and equal opportunities. When painting, I work well with groups, and move at a pace that ensures the job gets done and the group/students feel fully involved.

 Achievements.

‘Brave Arts’ has successfully been doing Art projects for 8 years.   Since starting my Art business I have gained lots of experience and worked in many different places and situations with lots of different people. Some of my greatest Achievements have been.   Recieving the Essex County Council “Essex Works “ award in the ‘our World’ category for my achievements in youth work in 2010.   The Community re-generation projects I’ve done in subways (some over 400ft long)

I’ve coordinated several sets of urban art workshops at the V&A & Tate modern museums in London.

Painted several pieces of ‘Graffiti art’ for the BBC incl: Having my work appear on Eastenders, TOWIE & the news at 10!

I completed a 5 day residency in Chelmsford prison, and worked with inmates to paint a 40ft long mural in the prison yard.

I’ve worked on creative art projects with hundreds of children and Young people who aren’t in regular education. Decorating youth centres, communal gardens, classrooms, theatres and playgrounds, and council estates.
