As a multidisciplinary art student, I have a passion for pushing the boundaries of mediums and experimenting with a range of them is both exciting and unpredictable. Mediums which have used and continue to experiment with include, paraffin wax, glass wax, latex, silicone, synthetic hair and food including raw chicken skin and baked beans. A lot of my previous artworks cross between both sculpture and fashion, making me challenge and understand the possibilities of what sculpture can be. A lot of my works have led me to consider going into costume or theatre design in the future.
This body of work explores gender, viewing it as a performance, something you do rather than who you are. By combining and melting down objects, items and mediums etc which are gendered by society, I wanted to create a body of work, forms where gender is more ambiguous - a piece of work without a label of being feminine or masculine, a body of work not made by a female artist but simply an artist.
