Joanna Lumley is an actress, former model, author and activist.
During the 1960s she was a freelance model and became one of the top 10 most booked.
Her first starring role was Purdey in the New Avengers and her iconic bob haircut became a much copied style at the time.
She played a Bond girl in On Her Majesty's Secret Service opposite George Lazenby (Bond), Telly Savalas and Diana Rigg.
Joanna then went on to have a brief but memorable role in Coronation Street and in 1973 played Jessica Van Helsing in The Satanic Rites of Dracula which was the last Hammer Dracula film to star Christopher Lee.
She has also worked with Tim Burton on James and The Giant Peach and the Corpse Bride.
Joanna has had many roles on Stage, TV and Film, however, it is her masterful portrayal in a comedy role - that of the National Treasure that is Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous that she is perhaps best known. A role for which she has also won 2 BAFTA TV Awards.
She is a passionate supporter of a number of charities including, animal welfare groups, such as Compassion in World Farming, Vegetarians' International Voice for Animals and her work on behalf of the Gurkha Justice Campaign has been widely publicised.
She was appointed an Officer of The Order of The British Empire (OBE) in the 1995 New Year Honours. In 2017 she was honoured with the BAFTA Fellowship award.
