Stephen Mcdowell

 I am a highly motivated, hard working individual. I take pride in trying my best to learn as much as I can. Especially my chosen subject, sound design and I aspire to be a sound technician. I want to  expand my experience, learning and working with sound. I’ve studied in college for nearly 4 years, I have done a media course and a course focusing on backstage production. My focus is on sound design and sound operating. I am interested in this university course because I want to learn how to get into the industry and become more competent in my desired field. What has inspired me the most, is the use of sound through a production. When working on the shows in my course. It's so satisfying seeing the audience being fully immersed in the show as sfx or music cues play, it made me so excited to continue to pursue a career in Theatre. What appealed to me is the constant need to problem solve and focus on the tasks/ your role and responsibilities. Throughout the academic year I did tasks such as communicating with the dsm and carrying out cues and mic fitting. Seeing the moving pieces and how everyone worked together and communicated and how I could be a part of that was so exciting, and I'd like part of that on a wider scale. Challenging myself and improving/gaining more knowledge.
