Tony Scott

Tony Scott was a highly successful film director and brother of fellow film director Ridley Scott. They both graduated from the Royal College of Art in London. In 1995 both Tony and Ridley received the BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Contribution To Cinema.

For over three decades (1980s, 1990s and 2000s) he made some of the biggest action blockbusters of the period: Top GunBeverly Hill Cops IIRevengeDays of ThunderThe Last Boy ScoutCrimson TideThe FanEnemy of the StateDéjà Vu and The Taking of Pelham 123.

I always get everyone prepared so there aren't so many arguments on set. I have a policy that the first thing I do in the morning is go over to the trailers and discuss exactly what we're shooting that day. It's time consuming but it reduces the chances of misunderstandings on set.

In 2010, he and his brother Ridley received the BAFTA Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Filmed Entertainment.

Making a movie is like a marathon and commercials are like sprints - they're equally satisfying, but in different ways. A lot of actors talk about doing their homework, but very few of them do it.
