Alex Philby

Alex Philby is a young, talented and professional musician who is currently studying for an Extended Level 3 Diploma in Music Performance/Production in the market town of Kettering.

Alex who prefers to go by his stage name “Philby” has been studying music academically for the last four years and has been avidly playing music for five years.His journey started in late 2018 where in order to study music at a Level 2 stage he taught himself to play the Piano. From that point forward, he devoted himself to music. He attained the highest grade for his Level 2 Music Course and during the 2020 lockdown taught himself to play the guitar.

 Alex took his next step to study Level 3 Music Performance/Production at his local college. In the early months of enrollment, his theory, practical and performance skills majorly improved. As he socialised with other musicians, he formed a band in which his role was the lad guitarist. The band setting lead him to dabble into songwriting as well as try new instruments like the bass guitar, drums and singing. With his band, he performed at local gigs and found a new confidence in playing live.

Due to creative differences and certain unreliabilities, Alex decided to seperate himself from the group and focus on his own assets as he soon found a new passion in songwriting and performing lead vocals. This eventually led him to join a new group and perform with himself as the frontman and lead guitarist.

A few months later, Alex achieved his goal and got his Level 3 Music Diploma and prepared himself to study for his Extended Diploma. During his time off Alex invested in a home studio and dedicated his months away to learning how to record, mix and produce music. He had a backlog of material written and thought production would be his way forward to delve further into music. Alex started his production by recording basic covers of songs and shortly after recorded and mixed short demos of his own material to hopefully send out and share to potential listeners. Alex now has 7 months worth of production experience and hopes to release music in the near future.
