Alison McIntyre

I am a visual artist working across many different mediums – though predominantly drawing, painting, collage and thread – to create images for commissions, exhibitions and installations. I have created large scale thread installations for corporate clients, using brand colours and company values to create striking centrepieces for office refurbishments.

I am also part of a collective called Art Doctors, which playfully breaks down barriers to participation in the arts and explores the positive role of creativity in all our lives. We gather near art galleries and museums, at events and workshops, in workplaces and online, wearing our paint-splattered coats and stethoscopes, with prescription pads at the ready. We’ll diagnose creative problems and give prescriptions to help, maybe some art to look at, or a creative activity to try out. We make our own art too – we make films, we write, we draw. And we work with all sorts of different people: healthcare professionals, social prescribers, radio presenters, students, artists, people just hanging out on the street – anyone.

Finally I'm a creative producer, working with communities through my company HATCH, collaborating with other artists and creatives on commissioned projects, and supporting other visual artists at Bradford Producing Hub.
