ANNABEL STEWART

I grew up in the Scottish Highlands on the far north west coast, in a tiny fishing village called Lochinver. The remoteness and beauty of the environment helped me focus on and harness my creativity. TheHighlands will always have an influence on my design aesthetic, for its beauty never ceases to amaze me. I am driven and determined with a bubbly and outgoing personality, matched with a strong work ethic which allows me to strive to be successful in everything I do. I would describe myself as a very fashion focused and creative individual, with a passion for design.

I want the clothes I design to be timeless, effortless, at a price that reflects the work that had gone into it. It has always bothered me that the fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world, having a disastrous impact on the environment, which is only increasing as the industry grows bigger. The first step to change is to be aware of this problem and then reflecting this in our practices as fashion designers.Additionally, as consumers we need to think about buying quality over quantity.Using sustainable techniques alongside using natural materials(as much as you can), and making things to last and turning fashion season-less, whilst thinking about the garments afterlife when its time is up, especially how it will decompose, will make positive steps in changing the industry for the better.
