Bernie Taupin is a multi award winning lyricist, poet and singer, best known for his 50 year writing partnership with Elton John, creating the lyrics for the majority of the Elton's songs.
My favourite thing is coming up with titles. The majority of the songs I've ever written, I've always thought of the title before I've written the song.
Together they have collaborated on over thirty albums and created some of the greatest songs in popular music, including: Candle in the Wind, Rocket Man, I'm Still Standing, Your Song, Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me and many, many more.
Captain Fantastic was the first album in history to enter the (American) album chart at number one. We did it for a second time after that. Now that's not a boast, that's frightening.
In 1992, Taupin was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Don't call my lyrics poetry. It's an insult to real poets.
Bernie also spends much of his time working as a visual artist creating large mixed media pieces and these contemporary graphic works have been shown in galleries across the United States.
