Bryony Merritt is a Brighton-based documentary photographer with an interest in capturing family and the dynamics of relationships through the lens. Her practice differs from family portraits, in the traditional sense, as Bryony’s portraits are composed using the items, spaces and environments most personal to her and her subjects. She finds importance in the specific memories these artefacts and spaces convey, sparking, as Roland Barthes (1980) the eminent journalist photographer, would call it… ‘Puctum’; a piercing of emotion and memory.
She has just graduated with a First in BA Photography from Kingston School of Art.
