Hanson Music & Arts was founded in 1989 with a simple but enduring aim: to design and make outstanding musical instruments that inspire players of all levels. Over the years, we’ve grown into one of the UK’s leading independent instrument makers, producing clarinets, saxophones, brass, strings, and guitars combining traditional craftsmanship with thoughtful design and innovation.
Sustainability has always been central to our approach. In 2011, we became the first woodwind maker in the world to achieve FSC certification, and we remain committed to ethical sourcing and responsible manufacturing. Our instruments are used in classrooms, conservatoires, studios, and concert halls across the globe.
While instrument making is at the heart of what we do, our focus is equally on the people who play them. Through our not-for-profit initiative, Hanson Community Arts, we help make music more accessible by providing free instruments and tuition and running inclusive ensembles that bring people together through shared creativity and learning.
Every part of our work from design and production to education and outreach is driven by a belief in the value of music as a force for connection, expression, and opportunity.
