Isabelle Taylor

My name is Isabelle Taylor and i have been studying Level 3 acting at Tresham college in Kettering since September 2023. Throughout my time at college, i have featured in two shows. The first show i was in was 'Stags and Hens' by Willy Russel. The second show i featured in was a scene from 'A mothers voice' by Chris Owen. In stags and hens, i played a character named 'Maureen'. Maureen is a very comical character who is a very emotional individual when intoxicated. She is a very dependant character who is very reliant on the opinions and judgements of other characters. She believes heavily in superstitions and lacks logic as well as common sense, making her a character which is funny and is commonly laughed at. Being able to play 'Maureen' was a great opportunity for me as i got to experience playing a comical character, meaning i could learn different techniques which made my characters personality believable as well as funny. Unlike Maureen, in 'a mothers voice' i was given the role of 'Carmen'. 'Carmen' is a strong and independent individual who is smart and experienced in the world. This role was the complete opposite of my previous roles, as carmen is a more serious and determined character. As Carmen is the opposite of Maureen, having the opportunity to play this type of role was extremely beneficial in widening my experiences within theatre as i got to learn different acting techniques in order to play my character not only believably but also to the best of my ability. As well as my acting techniques, i have also been able to widen my knowledge and understanding about different theatre practitioners such as Stanisvlaski and Tresstle. I have also been able to learn about different types of theatre such as roman theatre and kabuki theatre. As well as learning about these, i also had to opportunity to take part in workshops which gave me experience in acting in these time periods of theatre. For example, i was able to learn part of a Greek script and perform it after learning about Greeks.
