Jorja Osbourne

I am an aspiring Musical Theatre performer, currently studying a Level 3 Diploma in Musical Theatre at Northampton College, and will be continuing my training in Musical Theatre at Italia Conti in September, having also been offered places on BA (Hons) Musical Theatre Performance at Trinity Laban, BA (Hons) Musical Theatre Performance at The Hammond, and BA (Hons) Musical Theatre (Music) at University of Chichester.

I have been in dance lessons since I could walk. Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Freestyle, and Jazz to name a few. I have taken classes in Musical Theatre specifically from the age of six, and singing lessons from the age of 14, where I have trained in primarily classical vocal technique, as well as contemporary Musical Theatre Vocal technique, specifically the Estill Method. I have performed in many musicals, including The Addams Family, Legally Blonde, and Chicago which have fostered my confidence on stage. At Northampton College, I have explored many different specialisms such as devised theatre, legit musical theatre, and have started tap lessons. As a result of the confidence I have gained from this course, I have taken lead parts in amateur dramatic shows such as playing Young Evita in "Evita", other roles in "Bad Girls", "Elf the Musical", a pantomime and in a short film "Second Chances". Training at College has given me many opportunities to play iconic female roles such as Mabel in Mack and Mabel, and Éponine in Les Misérables, which have allowed me to reflect on how important it is to have strong women on stage, to inspire young girls who come to the theatre. Musical Theatre has many transferable skills, such as ensemble/teamwork, collaborative skills, compromise, emotional sensibility and empathy, tolerance, determination, and resilience. I am aspiring to continue into professional work in the Musical Theatre industry after my time at drama school.
