Lídia Guimarães

Hi,

​I'm Lídia Guimarães, I was born in Imperatriz, a city in the state of Maranhão in northeastern Brazil. When I was 8 years old, I came to Portugal, where I lived for 1 year in Quarteira in the Algarve, but it was in my 14 years that I decided to stay definitively in Portugal. A girl who always lived with a heart that missed her, discovered from an early age that she could keep her memories with her mother, who was 7482 km away. Through photography. 

My relationship with photography has always been one of love and affection, it was through photographs that I laughed to remember a few moments and to cry with longing. It was through photography that I got a refuge. I grew up and always asked me "What do you want to follow?" and it was a question that haunted me, and I never knew how to give only 1 answer. 

My family wanted it to be successful, but before anything else, they told me to follow my heart.​At the age of 15, I decided that I wanted to do for the rest of my life what really brought me happiness, photography. With 3 years, of course, I recognize that I still have a lot to learn, but I will always work for the best. The area I most identify with is the portrait, where I can capture someone's emotion in one click and make them remember that moment for the rest of their lives.

​Now I live in Sunderland and I'm studying Photography, Video and Image Digital.
