Marc Bolan

Marc Bolan was a singer-songwriter, musician, guitarist, and poet. He is best known as the lead singer of the glam rock band T. Rex. Bolan was one of the pioneers of the glam rock movement of the 1970s. He died at the age of just 29 in a car accident a fortnight before his 30th birthday.

I'm not frightened to get up there and groove about in front of six million people on TV because it doesn't look cool. That's the way I would do it at home.

In 1972 / 1973 T. Rex record sales accounted for about six percent of total British domestic record sales. The band was reportedly selling 100,000 records a day.

I don't contrive my success in the sense of going into a studio to make hit singles. I've no idea what makes a hit single anyway. I go in and do what I like – just the funkiest thing I have goes into a single. 

Tyrannosaurus Rex, Studio albums inlcluded: My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows (1968), Prophets, Seers & Sages: The Angels of the Ages (1968), Unicorn (1969), A Beard of Stars (1970).

Then as T-Rex... T. Rex (1970), Electric Warrior (1971), The Slider (1972), Tanx (1973), Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow (1974), Light of Love (1974), Bolan's Zip Gun (1975), Futuristic Dragon (1976), Dandy in Wonderland (1977).

After Marc's death three further albums followed - You Scare Me To Death (1981), Billy Super Duper (1982) and Dance in the Midnight (1983).

There have also been seven Live albums: T.Rex In Concert (1975), Live in Concert (1993), Electric Boogie (1997), Live at the Boston Gliderdrome 1972 (2001), Uncaged (2001), Born to Boogie (2005). 

I feel I do what I do, to people that want to listen, if they don't want to listen crap em, I don't care. I do it because I believe in it and I'm giving everything I can.
