I am a researcher, lecturer and multi-disciplinary artist working across performance, film and interactive and immersive media. Much of my research involves long-term and ethnographic approaches to understand the role of screen-based media (often interactive and immersive) in storytelling, artistic practice and audience studies.
I am currently a Research Fellow in Cultural Value at the Centre for Cultural Value and co-director of the Bradford Digital Arts Lab for emerging digital artists in Bradford. Recently, I have been a Teaching Fellow at the University of Leeds (2023-4) and a researcher with the AKO Storytelling Institute at the University of the Arts London (2023). Previously, I was a Research Fellow with the BFI and XR Stories at the University of York (2022-3) and taught on the Virtual and Extended Realities MA at the University of the West of England (2021-2).
My artistic practice spans formats from augmented reality and film to live performance and interactive art installations. My AR installation, Through the Wardrobe, toured film festivals and galleries 2019-22, including Sheffield DocFest, HOME (Manchester), IDFA (Amsterdam), the Barbican Centre (London) and the Goethe-Institut China (Beijing). And the large-scale outdoor WALK THIS WAY, commissioned for the 2023 Bradford light festival, is looking for new locations to be exhibited.
