Sophia Wassell

My name is Sophia Wassell, I am 18 years old and I am currently studying at Leeds City College to achieve a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in dance. Within my college course I have had extra curricular opportunities such as, performing at the Carriage Works Theatre for the Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival, with a contemporary style dance group called Ethereal and a flash mob performance at Leeds First Direct Arena, for the Leeds Creative Skills Festival with an urban style dance group called Explosive. Besides college, another thing helping me develop as a dancer, has been performing in local productions with ByThePlay and Cherries Musical Theatre. Recent credits include, the dance captain of the Guiseley Pantomime, SIX teen edition and Everybody's Talking about Jamie Teen Edition. Last summer I had the amazing opportunity to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with ByThePlay's new written musical 'Somewhere' where we performed 6 almost sell out shows at a theatre on the royal mile. Within this production I played a supporting role character and I was also the dance captain of the production, in which I helped choreograph and set the dances, which was an amazing opportunity. At the moment I am developing my teaching and choreography skills as I am a dance teaching assistant at Inspirations dance and Cherries Musical Theatre. I am aiming to continue my dance teaching and develop my skills further in order to one day open my own dance school.
