Our Purpose:

Dirty Sunbeams is a not-for-profit music web site showcasing independent music in the Calder Valley and surrounding areas. Dirty Sunbeams helps aspiring media and journalism students and young adults find their creative voice in a relaxed, non-commercial environment.

We are always open to new people joining and creating content for the site. If you’re looking for an opportunity to unleash your inner-creativity, build a portfolio or develop your media skills – writing, editing, design, photography, videography and social – then get in touch.

Our Philosophy:

We are non-commercial.
We are friendly and inclusive. Everyone is welcome. No egos.
We strive to add value in all that we do.

Our Name:

We wanted a memorable name that loosely symbolised the emerging talent in the area – the ‘rough gems’. After spending far too long considering far too many options we settled on ‘Dirty Sunbeams’, which is also, by chance, a fair summation of the local climate.Oh, and Johnny Marr liked it (Fact!) So that settled it.
