Trevor Horn, CBE

Trevor Horn CBE is a singer, songwriter, music producer, bassist and owner of a record label (ZTT) and recording studio (SARM West Studios). In 1978 he formed the new wave band The Buggles and the band was signed to Island Records. Their iconic single Video Killed the Radio Star went to No.1 in 1979. Horn was also a co-founder member of the highly innovative and influential band, the Art of Noise.

During the 80s he produced ABC's Lexicon of Love which went to No.1. and had phenomenal success with his label's first signing Frankie Goes to Hollywood, who enjoyed huge hits including Relax, Two Tribes and The Power of Love.

He has a hat-trick of Brit Awards for Best British Producer from 1983, 1985 and 1992. In the 80s he was Rolling Stone’s Producer of the Year 1983.

Producers don't really have any authority because you are paid by the artist, and if they choose to ignore you, they can. Your power only hangs by the tiniest thread. If you pull it too hard it will snap.

In the 90s, Best Producer at the 1991 Q Awards. And in the 00s, Music Week’s 2004 Producer of the Year.
