Vanessa Cutler

A glass artist specialising in using abrasive water-jet cutting, who exhibits work around the world and has presented at numerous conferences in Europe and America; helping numerous artists apply the technology to their practices, and authored the formative book “New Technologies in Glass” Bloomsbury 2012.

Initially trained in stained glass undertaking various public art commissions that are contemporary and traditional in their approach. Then went on to expand into the use of digital and industrial technology; particularly abrasive water-jet cutting technology and digital printing. Completed a PhD in 2006 and since has been working with the technology to produce that is in various collections worldwide from UK, America, Europe and Japan. 

My work is varied and uses a variety of traditional glass approaches alongside the technological. I have a small studio in the garden and I collaborate with various companies and studios to produce the work. predominantly the work is using fusing, casting and cutting processes, yet having been known to include casting, glassblowing and lamp-working when an project requires it.

I also have curated exhibitions and written on the subject. Most recent past project was the inaugural solo show for the opening of Stourbridge Glass Museum 2022.
